Special Topics

Through the Social Justice focus, students will explore how marginalized groups of people have been treated, excluded, and oppressed.  Students will also examine the struggles, attempts, successes, and failures of many of these groups as they moved to gain eventual incorporation into society.
    

Students will study primary documents written by, for, and against the leaders of the movements and their opposition. They will consider the historical role of various groups in the development in the United States and how feelings and stereotypes against these people has developed, changed, and in many cases been eradicated.  Students may choose to take this course and receive college credit through USI's College Achievement Program.
